Let Me Introduce Myself!

The end of the school year is a bittersweet time for me. But before I get into that, let my introduce myself. My name is Rebecca, I’m a mid-thirties wife for just of 15 years to a great husband and provider. We have two children together, M & C, 13 and 12 respectively. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in elementary education and social studies. When covid sent everyone home from work and school I became a homeschool mom, and when everything opened back up and people went back to work and school, I remained a homeschool mom. And then more recent events (I decided I needed a job outside the home and ended up with a loss without leadership skills) showed me that my place is in the home and homeschool classroom with my family.

With that short introduction, back to the end of the school year. I love to teach and learn so the end is bitter when I’m unable to teach. Yes, I still teach throughout the summer but it’s always on the fly, and very informal. It’s sweet because that sweet, much needed and deserved break is the best! When the reading I’m doing is what I want to read, the learning is directed to me and my age, interests, and skill level….that’s one of my happy times.

This year however, my break has been delayed. Due to the job I thought I needed, my last day and start of my break won’t be until the middle of July. Oh well, it gives me something to look forward to over the next two weeks, and making plans and setting goals for our future. You’ll be hearing a lot more from me in the future, hopefully weekly, then more often as time goes on. I’ll be here talking about homeschool, mom life, classical education, history, social topics, culture, politics, Christianity…the possibilities are endless! Stick around, you never know what will happen.

From one fellow homeschooler to another, enjoy that well deserved break!
